MABLETON–Just before Fr. DeGuzman's departure at the end of June, he took one more step to prepare the parish for the future. He started the process of installing air conditioning units in the gym. With the help of the technical experts of the archdiocese and the members of the parish finance council, the project reached its next step this week: the AC units are now under construction in Texas.

While they will not be ready in time for the upcoming heat wave, we do expect them to be operating within a few weeks. We all would like them to be operating today, but the process does take time, and we wanted to announce this now so that parishioners (and future parishioners) would take heart that relief from the heat is on the way.

We consider it a wonderful gift from almighty God that in the midst of the difficulties caused by coronavirus, despite the requirements of social distancing, because of our gym we are able to accommodate just as many people as normal for Sunday Mass. The heat is a problem for many people, but by making this upgrade to the parish property, we see it providing a short-term benefit to us, as well as making this building more useful to the parish year-round.
